Q:I am replacing an old Hampton Bay Fan/Light that is about 18 years old. It is mounted on a 2 ft. down-rod. I want to use the same longer rod for this fan. Should I expect any difference in the mechanical hook-up of this fan to that rod?

        Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for your question. Without knowing which fan you currently have, we can not answer with 100% accuracy. In general, this fan uses a standard 3/4" diameter downrod, so as long as the current downrod is 3/4" in diameter (inner diameter), there should not be any issues.

Q:Does this fan allow 2 lights to go on instead of all 4? For example, can I just pull the chain 1 time for 2 of the lights to go on and a second time for all 4 to go on?

A:  Sorry, all four lights come on when you pull the chain. Very nice fan and gives you lots of light.

Q:Is it possible to replace the four lights on the ceiling fan with one single light (dome-shaped light)?

              Answer This Question

A:  I don't think so because there is a what seems to be a unique wire connector between the fan and the light. Your new light kit would need the a compatible connector or you would have to manually wire the light kit to the fan.

A:  Thank you for your question. Yes, it is possible to replace the original light kit with a domed light kit. Please note that you will need to call Hampton Bay customer service at 1-855-HD-HAMPTON (1-855-434-2678) to order a blank switch cup in order to attach the light kit to the fan.
