A:  Yes, that is correct the wood is untreated and has a rough sawn finish.

A:  I would suggest you layout the wire to be placed on the bottom of the bed and prevent any nailing or stapling to the product which could cause the wood to split.

This unit is designed to be stackable and additional accessories are available depending on your design. The support posts sit out above the sideboards allowing you to add another layer of sideboards.
