A:  Yes, this is my preferred tool for driving nails into joist hangers. Its compact size allows nailing joist hangers and other ties and straps while working in spaces only a few inches thick without banging up your hands in the process. It is one of the few tools I carry with me in the car when visiting friends and families where any project may pop up at any time. My experience has been that with adequate air pressure 5 or 6 pulsed blows will drive nails flush to the surface of the joist hangers. While much quieter than large pneumatic nail guns ear protection is strongly encouraged.

A:  Certain brands will fit in this but most will not and you definitely do not want to use this for roofing shingles you will go right through

A:  I think the head of the roofing nails are too large for this nailer. It also doesn't drive nails in one stroke like a framing nailer or siding nailer but rather is like a pneumatic hammer that keeps striking as long as you push it until the nail is completely driven in. That been said, it only takes a few seconds to drive a 3" nail.

A:  For small nails like paneling nails use a brad nailer, it is an inexpensive tool and is air driven
