A:  I do not believe so. The nails I purchased came in a one pound box. These nails are used for Spanish ceramic roof tiles that are driven in one at a time.

Q:Can these nails be used for vinyl siding without the rubber seal?
by|Nov 9, 2018

Answer This Question

A:  Greetings Bob, I do not see why you cannot use these nails on vinyl siding. I like them because of their rink shank. The 1-3/4 gives them plenty of bite. I use them to secure Jame Hardi Board to our home because of the high winds. I predrill every hole about two sizes under and remove the rubber seal before I install the nails. Hope this helps.

Q:I assume these can never be removed once they're nailed in and you'd have to use a grinder to take off the top?

Answer This Question

A:  If the heads stay on they can be pulled out with a modified nail pulling bar and shim block but the problem is that the heads break off most of the new nails even while driving them in, let alone trying to pull them out.

A:  Hello Chris, Well, you could use a cats claw to remove them. But once you nail them in, they are there for the duration. Hope this helps.

Q:are these nails available without the neoprene washer and still hot dipped galvanized and ring shank, in a 1-3/4" size?

    Answer This Question

A:  Yes just search for Ring Shank Nails.

A:  No, not to my knowledge. I actually use these nails to secure Hardi Plank siding to my house. I remove the neoprene washer. The 1-3/4" is perfect for attaching the siding to my house. You can remove the washer with a pair of small wire cutters.

Q:I read to use hot dipped galvanized nails for low sloped roofs (between 2/12 and 4/12) but these seem like they will raise the shingle up slightly and cause problems with glue glue adherence and water getting up under the shingle.

        Answer This Question

A:  These nails are intended to be used while installing metal roofing. The neoprene washer on these nails helps to ensure a seal between the nail and the metal roof to prevent leaking. To order hot-dipped roofing nails for use with asphalt shingles, we recommend you go into a local Home Depot and order them through the special services desk. Thank you for your great question, and have a great day!

A:  Greetings Bill, You could use these nails for asphalt shingles only if you remove the rubber washer. These nails have more surface area that staples. Hope this helps.

          by|Nov 10, 2018

A:  The Neoprene washer acts as a gasket for the nail on a metal and/or tile roof. Asphalt shingles create the seal on their own. No gasket is needed no matter the slope. That being said the slope of the roof will determine what type of roofing material you should be using. If your slope is anything under 4:12 you should not be using shingles. For asphalt shingles, you just need ring shank roofing nails without the neoprene washer.
