Q:i think it may be easier to install vertically from roof peak to base than horizontally. with 3" overlaps is this acceptable way to attach it? also, i suppose i can use this rather than tar paper, over vertical osb exterior wall before nailing up siding?

Yes, this is an acceptable application. That is, assuming that the substrate is dry and debris free. We also recommend double width laps to help prevent water penetration on the side laps. Therefore, I would suggest 6’’ side laps if installing vertically.

A: Ice and Water is meant to be used on the roof of the house as an underlayment. It should be installed directly on the roof sheathing.

A: No, per the instructions it should not be left open to sunlight for more than 30 days. I have installed this product on many homes and can tell you it is a GREAT product with excellent adhesion and one of the ONLY true self sealing product available.
