A:  Provided the door is installed properly as per our instructions and you have gutters on your house. The door will be fine.

A:  Before I installed this cellar door I had a draft of cold air entering from The cellar through the floor boards. Replacing it with this one I have seen a huge difference in the temperature of my home. It's a bit pricey but worth the investment. I was also surprised how soild and heavy it was. If installed correctly it should not leak the door is design to have the water run off.

A:  Yes, you can paint it any color you want. Being a metal door, I strongly recommend an oil based paint, not latex, but that is just my opinion. I painted mine brown to kind of blend with the tan house siding. I would suggest painting all of the parts to it before you assemble and install it, and give it a couple of days to dry/cure. I used a 4" paint roller for most of it and it came out very nice.

A:  Yes. The red is only a primer. You can paint it any color you like. I used brown.

A:  The door you have requested info about is an RD-1. It is a flat unit for a sloped foundation wall. Perhaps the easiest way to see a line drawing of the various units would be to go to gordoncelladoor.com and click on the installation resources and then RD..installation. A:  I had a similar problem with size, but built a frame to accept the large size and it works fine. I top notch product and we like it very much. You just have to be prepared adjust you foundation either with wood or concrete.

A:  They are set to open a little more than 90 degrees by the guide system which holds them open. I would guess about 110 degrees for fully open.

A:  62” from top to bottom. This door is flat for angled stairway wall installation. If your stairway walls are flat/level you need the other door version with the angled metal flange.

A:  This is model RD1, which is a replacement door, which is only the red door. If you need the silver base, you need to order a CD(cellar door) model.
