Q:What is the height of the base? I want something where the base is around 4.5". I think the height listed here is the height from the bottom of the shades to the top of the arch.

A: Yes - just remember that the total wattage of the bulbs should not exceed the dimmer’s rating. Also not all bulbs are designed to be dimmer controlled. The use of the dimmer is usually more based on the bulbs used than the fixture.
