Answer This Question

A:  We have had this in our shower for about 20 years and it works, easy to wash, still looks good. It was easy to put up.

A:  Actually, it is pretty clearly MADE for that purpose. It's a somewhat "industrial" look, but it is perfect for kid's bathrooms, etc., as well as laundry rooms, and anywhere that tends to be humid and begs for a waterproof covering

A:  Hello Susan, Yes, these panels can be used for shower walls. As long as the joints are sealed with a silicone caulk then you should be good to go. Thanks, -Stabilit America

A:  Hello Juan, No, the standard FRP sold in stores is a class-C general purpose panel. Our fire rated, class-A panels are available through Home Depot's special-order program. Talk to an in-store rep for more help. Thanks, -Stabilit America

A:  You can do it with a razor knife, just be careful of your hands if you do, for obvious reasons. You can rough-cut it with a jigsaw and then do the final trim with a razor knife and a steel/aluminum ruler.

A:  Hello Jose, it is recommended to use a carbide tipped circular saw blade. The fiberglass shards will go flying, so be sure to wear gloves and safety glasses. For a less messy cut, you can also use a pair of tin snips. Thank you, -Stabilit America

Q:Can it be used for ceiling?

              Answer This Question

A:  Hello Jane, We technically only recommend these panels to be used on vertical wall applications. The weight and flexibility of the panel makes it difficult to install on a ceiling. If you do use it on a ceiling, make sure you have a sturdy backer like plywood, osb, or drywall. We also suggest using our nylon rivets in addition to FRP adhesive for the best hold. The rivets help hold it securely in place until the glue dries. Hope that helps! Thanks, -Stabilit America

A:  Hello Linda, The finish is designed to be a non‐adherable surface. If painting is necessary, a high-quality epoxy or acrylic‐based paint is suggested. Thanks, -Stabilit America

A:  You can paint it with plastic-adhering enamel paints, like a rustoleum plastic object paint. I've used this to make Sandwich board signs using stencils, and it lasted for years. Mind you, you do have to be careful as it will scratch off pretty easily.

A:  Hello Debot, We recommend that our panels only be installed over a sturdy surface like sheet rock. They will not hold up well if installed only to wooden studs. Over time they will sag and break. Thank you, -Stabilit America

A:  The back IS quite smooth with a matte finish, and I actually tend to use this side rather than the stippled gloss side. I have not tested it against construction glues, like Liquid Nail, but I think it would work. No promises.

A:  Hello Robert, This is not recommended. The smooth side has not been treated and will degrade much more quickly. Also, the surface of the textured side will not bond well with adhesive. There are smooth sided panels available through Home Depot's special order program. Please speak to an in-store Pro associate for more information. Thank you, - Stabilit America

Q:The corner trim pieces recommended for this application seem like it might have a leakage problem when used in a shower. On one side seems like it would not direct the water down into the shower pan. Is there any other trim pieces for the corners?

A:  Hello 1DesertRat, We only offer the one corner trim piece design. The trim is not designed to prevent leaking, but more for aesthetics. Be sure to seal the joints with silicone caulk for waterproofing. Thanks, - Stabilit America

A:  As Stablit suggests, you should NOT be depending on the trim for waterproofing, but instead on suitable caulking.

A:  Actually, this is one of the primary obvious usages of it. It has a somewhat "industrial" look, so not very stylish, more for children's baths or laundry rooms. And, as the mfr suggests, you want to use proper caulking to seal any edges or joins.
