A:  Terrible product design. I spent hours trying to install something that should take 30 minutes at most. I would never buy these products. based on other reviews, clearly there is a design flaw with the mounting hardware. the small 'set screw' does not work. Awful.

A:  I just installed this and the chart that came with the item indicated that the centers of the screws were exactly 18" apart. But also see my review, recommending that you insert a hardwood dowel inside the bar.

A:  I do not have the towel bar handy but the package includes an actual size template where to drill the mounting holes.

A:  A template is included with the product that shows the holes at 18" . I probably drilled a bit under that since I found the template after I was done.

A:  Measure the bar and mounting end between mounting holes. Hold the bar against the surface you want to mount it to and make a small pencil mark for center line to the holes on one end bracket. Drill the two holes insert a holding plug into each drilled hole, mount the end bracket with screws and screwdriver. Now insert the bar into the mounted end bracket, place a level on the bar, when it is level, mark the centerline for the mounting holes, drill the two holes, insert the holding plugs and screw the holder into place.
