Q:Is this unit capable of replacing with ease the older model Genie ISD990 and are parts compatible?

A:  You will have to replace the entire unit including the rail. You would be able to use the same wiring for the wall console and safety beams if you would like. The remotes and keypad would be compatible with the new unit.

    A:  I believe you would need two wall switches but you can program the keypad for multiple doors, up to 3 I think.
