Answer This Question

A:  I was able to use my cordless drill and it worked fine. For most screws I think a regular drill would work fine. The do have a square end to allow for the use of a wrench.

A:  I would think a crescent wrench, or set of wrenches that fit the extractors should work. You'll probably need something you can put some torque on, so a pair of pliers will probably not work, but I don't see the need to buy a special tap wrench for these.

A:  No, You drill a hole in the end of the broken bolt, Tap the extractor into the hole, then turn it the same direction you would to remove the bolt. The spiral flutes twist into the hole and transfer the torque to the bolt. Hopefully breaking it free and unscrewing it. You might want to but a tap handle to hold the extractor, although a wrench or square head socket can sometimes work just as well.
