Q:how much wind can it take?

    Answer This Question

A:  Not the kind of wind they have in North Texas. It didn't last one season in an exposed spot. Better to place it in a sheltered area.

A:  The fencing itself it very strong it is really a function of how well you adhere it to the stakes you use to support it as it would be with any type of fencing.

A:  The fence can not take much wind at all. The slats are very small. The picture is decieving. This "fence" is just a little more durable than the bambo curtains. It will not be able to stand any kind of big wind. I have mine on an apartment padio and use the steal rail to attach the fence. Without that, it would easlily topple. It is good for a screen but I would not call this a fence.

A:  I still have mine after 15+ years. It's turned gray over the years, but its still together. That's in the Denver area.

A:  The fencing is very durable and will last longer of course in nicer climates

A:  Easily 10 years. As the bamboo ages, it looses its youthful looks but remains sturdy. I've attached it to 4 ft linked fence in the yard, on 4 x 4 posts, screened door, around the bottom perimeter of my screened in porch.

Q:Is this fence considered a fire hazard?? Is it flame retardant??

                      Answer This Question

A:  This is bamboo fencing. Anything that comes from a tree is not flame retardant. Depends on how you view it. You could say that any fencing made from wood is a fire hazard, but we do not consider this product a hazard.

                      by|May 5, 2023

A:  This fence is not considered a fire hazard. It is made of natural wood however so if you start it on fire it will burn.

Q:Can I use galvanized wire to tie this to chain link to make it higher

                          Answer This Question

A:  You can indeed use the wire to attach to a chain link fence as this is a very common use for this product.

                          by|May 5, 2023

A:  It depends on how high the fencing goes above the chain link. If it goes more than a foot above it might break or bend with the wind. It would be best to have it be the same level as the chain link. So this would work to increase privacy and, depending on you point of view, look better.

                            by|May 5, 2023

A:  Yes, but it depends how much of it do you want exposed over the chain link. It is not very rigid so I think having about 2 feet of it above chain link is going to be the max.

A:  That must be a typo. The screen consists of split bamboo slats and wire, maybe 1/4- to 1/3-inch thick. Overall it is a light duty screen. Hope this helps.

A:  Their picture is deceiving. The bamboo is cut so they are not round. Each reed is a semi circle shape and they are each about 1/2 " wide. It worked for my project but the picture again was misleading.

A:  I would say overall about 1/8 of an inch. It is not entirely flat, flat. There is some natural unevenness to the material.

A:  To cut the width is easy. I used wire cutters to cut the baling wire and re-twisted the wire. To cut the height is more difficult, I clamped it down and used a hack saw.

A:  This can be cut but be sure to tie off the ends where you cut it so it does not unravel once you attach it to where you want to place it.
