Q:Does the dryer have the option to vent out the side?

      Answer This Question

A:  No, this dryer does not have the option to vent out the side.

      by|May 3, 2023

A:  I purchased this model GE Unitized electric space maker washer/dryer in January and I am very happy with it! Mine had to be vented indoors as I live in a condo. However, the unit comes with its own vent hose which is attached to the back of the dryer and the hose has one end that has an "elbow" attachment which is removable, leaving you with an 8 ft long stretchable/collapsible vent hose that could easily be vented to the outdoors if you had an appropriate hole in the wall to the outside. I had to use the "elbow" attachment to connect the vent hose to a small box in which water is absorbing the lint from the dryer because of the indoor venting option I have. Good luck!

Q:I understand that rinse temperature is ALWAYS cold on this model. Could I add hot water to the rinse?

            Answer This Question

A:  I don't believe so: I actually prefer cold rinse temperature to save energy on heating water. I like very much the option to select "heavy" load option for the extra large loads or, loads of more soiled clothes. The washer and dryer work beautifully!

A:  Hello - this is Nancy at GE and I am happy to help you. All of the rinse temperatures in washers today are cold. Cold water helps to cut oversudsing action and assists in soap removal. Further, this is one of the important features that helps this washer/dryer combination unit meet Energy Star requirements. I hope this helps! Thanks for checking with us!

A:  Hello - this is Nancy at GE and I am happy to help you. The DOE is a Cabinet-level department of the United States government. Appliances must meet DOE requirements. Through the Energy Department’s appliance standards, manufacturers are making great strides in developing new, more efficient appliances that are saving consumers money on their energy bills. I hope this helps! Thanks for checking with us!

Q:With what GE charges for this unit, why can't they add a buzzer like some cheaper modles of other brands ?

                  Answer This Question

A:  If you listened carefully, the washer does a double click at the end of the cycle. The dryer just stops and you can hear it easily. I had a Frigidaire unit before and it beeped at the end of the cycle. It also beeped at 3 o'clock in the morning when it felt like it... I HATED it!

A:  One unit - one package. The only assembly is plugging in the dryer vent and hooking up the cold and hot water hoses. I'm a 62 year old female and I can do it!
