In regard to installing this for an 8 ft. ceiling we recommend checking out the chart on page 12 of your installation instructions here: https://images.thdstatic.com/catalog/pdfImages/18/18dca202-336c-4b24-84cd-e8ea07aa0f42.pdf - You may not be able to install it that high from the cooktop given your ceiling height. For any other specific installation questions, we recommend reaching out to your local Home Depot directly. A:  Hi Backnine, we appreciate you reaching out to us. We do not have any duct cover extensions for model PV977NSS available. The hood comes with a cover that will extend up to ceilings 10'4" in height. For anything over this, you would need to get custom made from a third party. However, according to page 12 of the installation instructions, the maximum distance the bottom of the hood can be from the cooktop is 36". A:  Hi Andy - Per the Installation Guide, use rigid metal ductwork only. Do not use any type of flexible ducting. This hood must use an 8” Round Duct. It can transition to a 3 1/4" x 12" Duct.
