Q:We have a GE Model JP930TK2WW with a blown element. Could we use it for parts if this one needs repair?

Answer This Question

A:  Hello - this is Nancy at GE and I am happy to help you. The only way any parts could be used from the older cooktop is if they were the exact same part number used in the newer cooktop. It is doubtful these two units use the same part numbers. I hope this helps! Thanks for choosing GE!

Q:Can you use a cast iron grill over 2 of the burners?
        by|Aug 10, 2014

        Answer This Question

A:  Hello, This is Michelle with GE and I am happy to help. Cast iron cookware is not recommended for use on any of GE's ceramic glass cooktops, including this model JP336SDSS. This also includes cast iron griddles. If the cookware/griddle has a burr or rough spot, it will scratch the glass surface. Additionally, it is slow to absorb heat. Once this type of cookware heats up, especially on high heat, it holds an intense amount of heat which is transferred to the cooktop. This can cause the element to shut down as a response to the temperature limiters which indicate surface temperature is too high for cooktop components to handle. Some cookware manufacturers that offer non-cast iron griddles recommend the use of their griddles that extend across 2 burners. If recommended by the cookware manufacturer that it is acceptable for radiant/glass ceramic cooktops and is not cast iron, then it may be used on GE radiant/glass ceramic products. Thank you for checking!

A:  Hello Constance, This is Lisa from GE. I am happy to assist you. The benefits of the Radiant Cooktop are they have a recessed glass top with a silicone seal around the edge, which provides spill-proof capability of up to 5 quarts. The corners are rounded for easy clean up of spills. Hard to clean cracks and crevices are eliminated. Stainless steel and heavy weight aluminum cookware are recommended and the bottom of the pans must be flat, as non flat pans can crack the glass. Pans not recommended may scratch the surface if not used properly, and you will want to make sure everyone cleans the top with the cooktop cleaning cream after each use of the cooktop. This will keep the cooktop looking new and easy to clean. The use of sponges or cleaners other than those recommended can result in damage to the cooktop. You can use most pans on the coils, however, spills may not always be contained on the cooktop. Thanks for checking with us. Lisa

A:  Well, the coil wires can break over time and those drip pans get dirty and stained. There's none of that with a ceramic glass electric cooktop; it's easier to clean. I guess it's just a matter of preference and aesthetics.. The ceramic is very modern and modern-looking.

A:  Hello Suzanne, Thank you for your interest in the GE 30 in. Ceramic Glass Electric Cooktop in White with 4 Elements including PowerBoil Model # JP336DDWW. Yes, it is compatible with the 30" Downdraft Venting System model PVB94DTBB. Please see the installation instructions for the downdraft model for all details and specifications for an island installation before purchasing. You may also want to consider model PP898DNBB that offers a built-in downdraft system in the cooktop. The quality is not any diffrent from another model in the line or any different glass. There would just be feature differences. I hope this helps! Donna with GE

A:  Hello Lorraine, Thank you for your interest in the Ceramic Glass Electric cooktop model JP336DDBB. This model does come in white but it is not a True White. It is white speckled on black glass. To get a cooktop that is True White, you will need to step up to the Profile line. I would suggest considering the Profile model PP912TMWW. It is a beautiful cooktop! Should you have additional product questions, please let us know. Donna with GE
