Answer This Question
A: Hello Laura,
Thank you for your inquiry on the GE range model JBP15DM.
No, the backplash will not prevent you from using a tall pot on the back burner. The back burners are 6" and the pan should not overhang the burner by more than 1".

That is a great questions, "What makes an appliance ADA compliant?".
For Electric or Gas Freestanding ranges, these models feature upfront controls which can be accessed without reaching across hot burners. These controls are designed for easy, one-hand operation and are positioned within a forward reach range of 15 and 48 inches.

A: Hi Janie, this is Jill again with GE. I received an answer from our research department regarding your other question about the preheat feature and would like to share this additional information with you. Although our model JBP15DMWW does not have a preheat light, it does have an oven cycling light. When the oven thermostat is set to a desired temperature, this red neon light comes on to show the oven unit is on and heating. When the light turns off, the oven has reached the desired temperature. After the oven reaches the temperature, the light will cycle as the bake unit goes on and off to hold the temperature. There is no audible beep. However, you will know that the preheat temperature has been reached when this light goes off after having set the temperature. I hope this helps. Please let us know if you have any additional inquires or need assistance with choosing a model. Happy shopping!

A: Hi Janie, this is Jill with GE. Thank you for your inquiry and for your interest in our appliances. I am happy to help. The JBP15DMWW is a terrific model. It is constructed with a one-piece, upswept porcelain surface, for easy clean up. The oven coil is not hidden, rather, it is exposed. However, the uncovered bake element does offer a benefit in that the preheat time is quicker.
This model does offer an "oven cycle" light. I have sent a message to our research department so that we will know if this light also works as a "preheat light". I will let you know as soon as I hear back from them.
Additionally, I wanted to let you know that canning can be done on both radiant and induction smooth-top ranges. When canning with a water-bath or pressure canner, larger diameter pots may be used for these types of surfaces. This is because boiling water temperatures, even under pressure, are not harmful to cooktop surfaces surrounding the surface units. Please remember not to use large diameter canners or other large diameter pots for frying or boiling foods other than water.
It is important to know that radiant and induction cooktop surfaces also require a certain type of cookware to function properly.
I hope this helps. Please expect to hear back from us shortly regarding your question about the preheat feature. If any other questions comes up in the meantime, do let us know. Have a wonderful day!
