Q:Will it work when installed next to a wall?

Answer This Question

A:  Hi MissLemon- This is Sue at GE Appliances. It's exciting to hear of your interest! If doors can't open at least 90 degrees because of an obstruction or wall, the drawers can be fully accessed but generally cannot be removed. Most product specifications list the Width w/Door Open 90 Degrees. With French-Door models, this includes the clearance for both sides of the refrigerator. Additional clearance of 17" is needed to open the door(s) if the adjacent wall or cabinets are deeper than the refrigerator case depth (depth w/o doors). On model GNS23GGHWW, the Case Depth Without Door is 28 1/4 in. Thanks for checking with us!

Q:are the freezer bins solid plastic or open weave where you see the floor when you open the door?

A:  The freezer bins are open weave.

A:  Hello Donna - this is Nancy at GE Appliances and I am happy to help you. This is a great refrigerator! The ice bin drawer is solid, as well as the shelf over the ice bin, but both of the other two slide-out shelves are baskets. The baskets are woven such that most items you would normally place in a refrigerator would not fall through, yet they still allow for good air circulation. I hope this helps! A:  Hello Kat - this is Nancy at GE Appliances and I am happy to help you. GE products are designed by GE engineers in the United States. Many are manufactured in the U.S. and others are made globally to our specifications. The country of origin is shown on the model/serial rating plate as well as the packaging. I hope this helps! A:  Hello Amanda - this is Nancy at GE Appliances and I am happy to help you. This refrigerator comes with white handles. Unfortunately, you would not be able to order it with stainless steel handles. If this same exact refrigerator comes in a stainless steel model, you could order the handles separately. However, since our appliances have been designed to meet specific requirements, we do not support altering or changing any aspect of the design. I hope this helps! Thanks for checking with us!

Q:How much space beyond the depth of the closed unit is needed to remove the freezer drawer needed ?

                    Answer This Question

A:  Hi PW-this is Sue from GE Appliances. The 22" clearance previously provided is how much clearance is needed to pull the freezer all the way out (like when using it). This is measured from the frame of the refrigerator out to the handle, so it is with part of the freezer basket inside the unit. You may need more room than this to stand and maneuver the freezer drawer up and out, so we recommend 25". Page 22 of the manual shows how this is accomplished: http://www.homedepot.com/catalog/pdfImages/f2/f2728690-1cee-4f93-9d6c-7d844272e371.pdf-Thanks for checking with us!
