A: Thank you for your question. We have not tested the 1/2 inch thickness, but we did test the 7/16 inch thickness which has an STC rating of 61 and and IIC of 83.

A: Thank you for your question. Yes, this type can be used under and oriental rug. The product is only available in one size of 6ft x 45ft. You would need to cut and seam together to meet the size of your rug. The 1/2 inch thickness might be a little thicker than normal for an area rug; we do have a 6 lb 3/8 inch or 7/16 inch thickness available that would also be acceptable.
