Q:This says effortless restart in the event of a power outage. Is that different from auto restart....

Answer This Question

A:  I think I bought this 8.000 BTU window AC back in Jan 2018 but just installed it today and so far it is working good. It is set to go & off automatically to maintain the set temperature. The setup was logical and I needed little instructions to install it as I had other similar units. I did cover the L&R expansions with 3/8" thick Styrofoam insulation boards I cut to suit & taped them in place covering any possible opening that bugs could get through. I also used white plastic tape to cover any other cracks also. The AC looks good and seems to work well. Thank you, Joe K.

A:  Hi, Ang. Effortless restart means the unit will automatically resume operating at its previous settings when power is restored. ~ Brandi

A:  I don't think it's necessary, the unit sticks out almost 2 feet from the window.

A:  I live in a 3 story townhouse and dropping the AC would be bad. Lucky for me, there was an existing planter box outside my 3rd story window to support my AC. You can either install an outside bracket which may look ugly...or install a planter box which will look much better. You can also install hanging plants to make your house look nice. A planter box would consists of a 2 by 6 board that is lag bolted to the house. Now you can screw a rectangular planter box into the 2 by 6 board. The planter box should extend out about 10 inches. I have seen some planter boxes that uses the 2 by 6 board as part of the planter box itself.

A:  Hi JZ! In researching, it does not require a mounting kit outside the window. The air conditioner comes with a mounting hardware kit for installation. Hope this helps! -Thanks!-

A:  Thank you for connecting with us, Terry! The air conditioner FFRA0822R1 is not designed to be installed through a wall. This style installation is not recommended as it can cause improper operations within the appliance. We hope this information is helpful to you. –Thanks!-

A:  It should work. However, be aware that condensation water will drip out the back. You must prevent the water from affecting any wood studs and causing dry rot. I recommend waterproofing or protecting your 2 by 4 studs from the condensation water. You do not have this problem from a window because the house wall below the window is waterproof. When I removed the AC from my window, I spilled about a cup of water on my carpet. When you first use the AC, I recommend that you inspect the exterior of the AC so you are aware of where the water will be going.

A:  Sounds great. Line your framing opening with tin and bend back around the opening for the A/C. unit. You never have to buy the a/c units that say for through walls unless your not able to apply the right materials around the opening from the get go. I have put mine through wall in house and it works great. Wish you the best with this unit. I have 2 and they keep my whole house cool as ever. :)

A:  Thanks to CowboyMan1 for the answer. I am already underway with the opening thru the wall and framing. Also viewed a great YouTube video which had good ideas on building a sleeve for the AC unit to mount thru the wall and finishing details for the trim. I think the only issue that the manufacturers are concerned about is having adequate clearance for the louvers on the side of the unit for ventilation. I enjoy the challenge of making custom installations.

A:  12 inches high by 18-3/4 inches wide by 15-3/4 inches depth. These dimensions does not include the top and bottom flanges and the side flanges. The side flanges expands 10 inches at each side which should fit a window up to 38-3/4 inches. It may even go to 40 inch wide. The 15-3/4 inches depth is divided so that 4 inches protrudes inside, 10-1/2 inches protrude outside and 1-1/4 inch is the flange width. I install and remove this lightweight and compact AC from my window every year with moderate effort. I like this AC because my older AC was too big and heavy. This AC fits into the 1-1/4 inch wide bottom channel of my window.
