A:  The door seal is tight, but I had rather it be a tight seal instead of a loose seal. It makes the appliance more energy efficient and keeps the door from accidently opening from a little bump. Also, if the electricity goes out from a storm the food will stay frozen for days instead of a few hours. We also have a new refrigerator and it also has a tight seal. I have noticed that the appliances do not run as often because they hold the right temperature longer. The freezer is excellent quality. Our freezer is hinged on the right. I put my left hand on the left edge of the freezer body and right hand on the handle and pull. Hope this helps.

A:  The trick to easier opening is to pull about 10 seconds - gently, slowly, steadily - not a single hard/sharp tug. That gets the door seal to release just enough to equalize the air pressure inside with the outside room, then the door releases. Glad my husband is an engineer and figured it out.
