A: Any AA battery is acceptable. Note the life of the battery may vary between manufacturers. My belief is that First Alert receives an advertising fee from Energizer for their recommendation.

A: No, although I have had better luck with Duracell batteries lasting longer than Energizer batteries.

A: I ordered this alarm on 2/24/17, picked it up at Home Depot Encinitas on 3/2/17 and installed it myself on 3/8/17. The alarm came with 2 AA Duracell MN1500 batteries. On the back of my alarm under the "Warning" sticker it states: "Replacement Batteries Everready E91 - use of a different battery may have a detrimental effect on alarm operation." It mentions nothing about using Energizer AA batteries. For your information, about 3 weeks ago my alarm (with its original Duracell AA batteries) began to chirp after 9+ months of operation. I then installed 2 new Duracell AA MN1500 batteries. I have experienced no problems with the alarm and the Duracell batteries that have been installed. Hope this information is helpful to you.

Q:What is the minimum PPM then, if it doesn't detect less than 30?
by|Jan 8, 2018
1 Answer
Answer This Question
A: When you test the unit it displays several ppm CO levels starting with 30 ppm. If the unit detects enough CO to sound the alarm it will display the value it has detected. Note there is a CO memory feature which displays the peak CO recorded during an alarm. This value can be displayed by pressing the Peak Level Button. If no alarm has sounded, pressing the button will display 0 ppm.
