Q:Is this a direct replacement for an old FirEx GC? I tried the i12060A and it powered up and tested fine but interconnectivity did not work.

Answer This Question
A: Hello. There is no direct replacement for your alarms. That being said, you can use any of the Kidde current hardwired smoke alarms to replace your older alarms. You will have to take down all of the older alarms before putting up any new alarms. You will have to change out and rewire the wiring harness plugs at each location. There are no adaptors for the wiring harnesses you have now. You will have to change out the mounting brackets at each location but that will just take a screwdriver to change out. Don't use the GC plug on the current alarms as it will damage the new alarms.

Q:Will this replace firex fx1020, hardwired plug?
by|Dec 16, 2023
1 Answer
Answer This Question
A: Hello. There is no current product that "replaces" the FireX FX1020. The FX1020 is a special alarm that uses 120 volts AC over its interconnect line, unlike most smoke alarms that use DC power for interconnection, so this alarm is not compatible with any other alarm, Kidde or Firex, and no other alarm uses the same mounting bracket and wiring harness. If you put this alarm into the same circuit as any other alarm, this alarm will damage the other alarm. You will have to change out all of the alarms, change all of the wiring harnesses and mounting brackets, and you will need to take down all of the old alarms before putting up any new alarms. That being said, you can use any of our current Kidde products to replace your smoke alarms if you do take down all of the old alarms first and change out the wiring harness plugs and mounting brackets at each location.
