A: Yes. I comes with a short piece of 1-1/4" flex hose that will connect to the sander and a standard 1-1/4" vacuum hose. If you have the larger 1-7/8" or 2-1-2' hose for your vacuum you'll need an adapter of some type to fit up to the 1-1/4".

A: Yes, assuming you want to blow dust all over the place and buy a new vacuum cleaner. Bottom line is drywall dust is miserably penetrating and highly abrasive. It WILL go through just about anything short of a HEPA filter, which your vacuum might have although many do not. Even a little going through will likely get to the motor and start grinding up the bearings. If you try it with a HEPA make sure the filter is in the line BEFORE the air gets to the motor, most vacuums seem to filter the air just before blowing it into the room and assume most of the dust is removed by the regular bag. Drywall dust goes though regular bags surprisingly well. Best solution is a shop vac with proper rated drywall filter bag before the regular filter and that before the motor.
