We recommend a PL Premium construction adhesive be used to install the panels to your surface for proper installation. Acceptable substrates to install the panels to are drywall, plaster or clean, smooth tile (glazed, porcelain type tile; not porous or textured). Any damaged, loose or uneven areas must be repaired, patched, leveled and primed. Fill cracks and irregularities with wallboard compound or spackling, then sand smooth with fine-grade sandpaper. Any porous material like highly textured drywall, plywood (or any raw wood without primer), and wallpaper unless removed, sanded and primed, will result in adhesive failure. A:  No, these panels are too thin and flimsy not to be supported fully from some type of backing material. Mine were glued to the existing sheet rock but you could use 1/4" plywood, paneling or anything similar.

A:  These tiles should not be installed over a grid system, and should be installed to a sound substrate like drywall or plywood. These tiles should be installed on a smooth, flat surface.

We recommend spacing the nails every 6 inches to avoid a ripple effect. Please note that the nails will be more noticeable when used with certain styles and finishes.
