However, once removing a nail there will be irrepairable damage done to the tile itself. A:  Actually they are the square root of 4.5", which is about 2.12132" Remember algebra where the hypotenuse is a² + b² = c² ? Since 6 fit in 18" (vertical) and 8 in 24" (see the picture of a complete panel), the hypotenuse is exactly 3". So 3² = 9. Since they're squares, not rectangles, a = b, so a² must be 4.5, resulting in a = square root of 4.5

A:  Thank you for your great question! Yes, the Fasade Quilted PVC Decorative Backsplash Panel in Gloss White can be installed over existent tiles. Before starting, make sure all surfaces are clean, dry, flat, smooth and free from dust, grease, etc. Lightly sand any glossy surfaces to remove sheen. You will want to fill in any cracks or imperfections in the existing tiles before installing the fasade panels over them.
