Q:My attic opening is 22.375 by 30.125. This seems like the closet option. I'm relatively handy and could move the crosser studs in the opening for the extra inch but I'm wondering how much play is there on the both of this ladder unit?

Q:We have an 18 x 29 and 12 ft high attic. We can choose the 31.5 x 22.5 and add 3 extra steps to give us the height. What size do we need for the steps?

1 Answer
Answer This Question
A: Unfortunately, you cannot add 3 steps to this ladder and even with 3 steps it would not reach 12'. The max amount of steps that can be added to this unit is 2 and that will get you up to a 10'10" ceiling height. Adding more than 2 steps will result in not being able to fold the ladder back up completely and not being able to close the door.

Q:I currently have fixed steps going up to a cutout in the ceiling that is 32.5" in width and 65.0" in length. What would be the recommended size LST to purchase knowing that shims will be required between the existing cutout and LST box to compensate?
by|Jan 24, 2024
1 Answer
Answer This Question
A: The closest size we have is a 30.5x54 for our LST model so you will have to use pieces of 2x4's or 2x6's depending on your ceiling joists to make the opening 30.5x54 and then shim it.
