A:  I always mount shelf support brackets on studs so a shelf that will have heavy objects on it would be every 16 inches but if only putting light weight on shelf then 32 inches.

A:  Diyer7 - We recommend every 16" on wall studs. The pair together will support up to 100lbs. It would depend on how long of a board and what the weight distribution was on the shelf.

A:  Gliz1954 - They can be painted and would recommend you lightly sand the surface of the current paint to allow for future paint to adhere best according to the paint’s instructions. As for hardware to mount to a brick wall, we would suggest contacting a fastener company to confirm the best solution for this, as there are so many variable, and the actual variations in brick material need to be taken into consideration to safely make a recommendation.

A:  No I can’t see that they would hold the weight. They are fashioned to be a support from the underside of a shelf. They would need some type of bolt to go through the holes and then the shelf with screw on nuts to use them the way you describe.

A:  These brackets can be turned upside down. The ability to hold securely depends greatly on the length of the top screw and the material which the screw goes into. You must take in to account the actual weight of the load placed on the shelf and the number of brackets used.

A:  They are painted white, if you wanted to paint them i would suggest sanding them first to remove the gloss and then repaint

A:  They are a gloss white finish so it would take some work to change the color. I find that gloss white works with any color anyway.

A:  It has already a finish, however, you can still paint it if you want.
