Q:Can someone provide the installation instructions and how to properly rest the bike tire on the hook without damaging the bike overtime?

Answer This Question

A:  The Everbilt Silver 1-Bike Wall Mounted Garage Bike Rack has a thin coating to avoid direct damage to your bike frame or tire when storing. You may position this bike hanger to hold the tire or the frame and you may add a second one to distribute the weight across multiple points and reduce any slight chance of damage from hanging in the same position over a long, extended length of time.

A:  I used it to hang my bicycle vertically to the ceiling , but I imagine you can use it horizontally if you use two of them.

Q:My bike weighs approximately 30 pounds. I have mounted one of these to a stud, bike vertically against a wall(not ceiling)- it seems fine. But, for peace of mind...could install another of these onto the bottom wheel to balance the weight? Or would that be a useless addition?

A:  One of these works just fine, I currently use these hooks to wall hang 4 bikes which two of them are mountain bikes.

A:  It is not necessary if the stud is in good condition but adding another one would not hurt anything.

A:  Wall mounted vertically, It might be kind of hard to get the two hangers positioned exactly to share the load equally.

Q:Would you trust this with a lock? I'm thinking about attaching this in my apartment building's garage--the door is frequently open and I live in Chicago. I can get specialty screw so a regular screwdriver can't pull them out, but not sure how sturdy the hanger is.

                Answer This Question

A:  It is reasonably sturdy. Don't know if I would trust it with an expensive bike.

                by|May 5, 2023

A:  The working load limit of this bike hanger is 30lbs(13.6kg). The specialty screw included with the hanger should meet the size requirement of the screw hole to secure it properly, however, this item is not recommended for use outdoors. The supplier is unable to guarantee that the hanger should be used for this application as it could be damaged if there is enough force exerted on it.

A:  I have my all mountain bike with 2.35" tires hanging from it, but it does cause the arm to flex a little away from the mounting holes. Not sure how big of a concern this is yet. I would say 2.2" and down are acceptable.
