A: Thanks for reaching out. If these authentic, long-lasting PVC shutters are ordered in "Primed" or "Unfinished", they do need to be painted. For best results, prime the product thoroughly to achieve a smooth, consistent, paint-ready surface. The carved areas may require additional prime coats. Once priming is finished, paint the product with a good quality, vinyl safe 100% acrylic latex paint. If painting the product a dark color, colors that have an LVR rating of 54 or lower, use paints with heat reflective characteristics specifically formulated for use on vinyl or PVC products.

Q:Can the 18" wide shutter be trimmed like other composite? They need to be 16" (1" each side) to fit the boxed in opening in my siding.
by|Jun 5, 2020

Answer This Question
A: Thanks for reaching out. We can make the shutters at 16 inches in width, for you. Please reach out to a Home Depot Representative for a quote. PVC can easily be cut with general woodworking tools, however, as this is a finished product (on all sides), we'd recommend ordering them to size. This will make your project hassle-free!

Q:I have Hardy Plank siding. Will the composite wood shutters work on that? What is the weight of the shutters? It was not listed in the product specifications.
by|May 4, 2020

Answer This Question
A: Thanks for reaching out. Each shutter panel, in a 12 in. x 59 in. is approximately 20 lbs. They are used on all types of siding, including Hardy Plank. We always recommend attaching to shutters through the siding, and into the solid decking or framing behind the siding. This will give you a long-lasting and secure application. Composite wood shutters have the authentic look and feel of real wood shutters, without the downsides of wood (as composite is virtually maintenance free). They are a great product addition to any home!
