Answer This Question

A:  50" (the width listed) is the bottom width. That will be the width where it will be meeting the door, window, or garage. Thanks!

Q:Can this be cut / trimmed? The picture showing the dimensions is wrong. It shows the bottom rounded edge as 1 1/4" deep, when it is actually 2" deep. The flat rise section is 1 1/3" deep. I need the bottom lip to be 1 1/4 inch as pictured.... is it possible to run it through a table saw with a fine tooth blade and trim the extra 3/4 off the whole depth or will the polyurethane just crumble? Thanks.

    Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for your feedback, we will be sure to look into this. Polyurethane as a material is very similar in density to pine, so it can be cut or modified on site using carpentry tools. If you choose to modify the product, please keep in mind that there is a coat of primer baked onto the material and by cutting into the the urethane, you will need to likely fill any air pockets and re-prime the product prior to painting and installing.

A:  Yes, but you would need to prime it again before painting.

Q:How to order the side parts to complete the cornice box?
        by|Dec 8, 2017

        Answer This Question

A:  To properly order the side parts, you will need to know how wide the door/window opening is, and how wide you want the side parts to be. Once you know those two sizes you would add them together and that is what the bottom width for the crosshead would need to be. Ex. 36" door/window, and you want 5" wide pilasters (side parts). You would need a 46" crosshead (36" opening + 5" right pilaster+ 5" left pilaster=46" overall)

Q:If the crosshead base is 1 1/4 and the top of the pilaster that it will be attached to is 2 5/8, do you use anything to fill in that extra space or do you just attach the crosshead flush with the wall and leave that 1 3/8 gap to the front of the pilaster?

          Answer This Question

A:  The standard installation in this instance is to attach the crosshead flush to the wall and leave the 1 3/8" gap with the pilaster. This adds architectural interest and is a common installation.

Q:Can I install this over an interior entryway attached to my drywall? If so, what should I use to attach it? Would finish nails crack the molding?

            Answer This Question

A:  My guy used finishing nails. He also used a few small blocks that he attached to the drywall then he shot finishing nails through the moulding and block behind for added support. These things are so lightweight.
