Q:casing would look best under which size header? 1/2" x 3" under the 1" header or 1/2" x 3" under the 1/2" header. Thanks for the input!

      Answer This Question

A:  The choice of casing would depend on the look you would like. The 1/2" header would provide for a flush look at the top of the casing and the bottom of the header. The 1" header would provide for a 1/2" overhang at the top of the casing and the bottom of the header. Frequently the overhang is used to provide for a more striking architectural look, but the flush look is completely acceptable.

        Answer This Question

A:  If you needed a size smaller than what we offer, we would recommend using a miter cut in the center of the product and using adhesive and caulking to smooth any seam. This would void any warranty.

          Answer This Question

A:  Hi, thank you for showing interest in our products, we greatly appreciate it. I am happy to assist you with any product questions that you might have. This specific crown moulding is measured from the bottom and has a bottom width of 45". The overall width from the widest part at the top measures at 48 1/2" and is 6" in height. Also, once it is installed, it has a projection (how far it comes off the wall) of 1". This would be all of the dimensions that we have for this product.

Q:Looking at this piece, I'm wondering where the measurement is taken from. If I have casing coming up the side jamb, do I need to order a piece that is as wide as the door opening, plus the casing, and the base sits atop the side casing with the top extending out, or do I need to calculate how far out the decorative casing extends?

A:  Dear Valued Home Depot Customer, We reached out to the MFG for more information. Below is their response. "Width dimensions are measured at the bottom. It is recommended for the width to be equal or wider than the trim/casing below it."
