Q:Does screw head have to be flush with anchor? I want to hang an item that has a single, recessed hole on the back. The screw needs to protrude 0.75 inches from the wall to reach the mounting hole, and can't be tightened after item is placed.

      Answer This Question

A:  As long as enough threads of the screw have entered the anchor to be secure and not wobble, you will be fine. If not, use a longer screw.

      by|Jul 13, 2022

A:  I leave the screw backed out all the time when hanging pictures but 0.75” would likely be too far with the screws provided.  You could purchase longer screws with the same thread size and make it work for your application.

        by|Jul 14, 2022

A:  Yeah I used these to mount vinyl record mounts to the wall. The anchor goes in and just creates a solid place for you to screw in. Leave as much or as little out as needed but it will rest on top not flush with the anchor if fully tightened

Q:Are these made so I can periodically remove the screws then put them back into the anchor? I’m mounting a thin acrylic panel over a shop light which is embedded inside a slanted attic ceiling. It’s an LED light so should last 30+ years before I need to replace it.

              Answer This Question

A:  Yes, it can be removed and re used. Once the anchor is expanded it should stay in the wall & allow the screw to be removed.

A:  Hi Lili, this is Scott from the E-Z Ancor product team. The Stud Solver is designed to have the screw break through the anchor point as you tighten until flush. Please try using more force turning clockwise, but do not apply pressure towards the drywall. Please feel free to call us at (877) 489-2726 or email us at CS@itwbrands.com. We’d like to help out if you have any further questions.

A:  By design, the threaded length of the screws is the same length as the anchors. If the screw will not go into the anchor enough to tighten against the object being anchored, you may need to insert a washer or some other spacer to take up the space between the screw head and the object being anchored. I have found that the screw would thread itself through the end of the anchor if the screw were screwed all the way into the anchor.

Q:Can I use any type of #7 screw or does it require a specific thread pitch? It seems to be impossible to find a #7 sheet metal screw in lengths longer than 1-1/4", but I want to attach a bookcase with about 1" thick backing to prevent tip-over risk.

                    Answer This Question

A:  The threads are cut when they first go into the anchor, I believe any #7 screw will work. If you use one that is longer than the anchor it may not go in all the way.

A:  Mike: I have used these anchors with a variety of screw lengths including drywall screws. You honestly should be able to find the size/length at your local Home Depot.

Q:The description says not to use for mounting televisions. I would think it's purely the weight limit that matters -- if the screen is less than the indicated weight, why would the nature of the thing being mounted matter?

A:  I agree with you. I assume the manufacturer doesn't want you coming back on them if the sheet rock fails for whatever reason and someone gets hurt because a television fell on them. Installed correctly (don't over set), this is a good anchor.

A:  I can understand not using these for mounting a television if you're not screwing the anchors into a stud, but I can't imagine anyone trusting *any* drywall anchor to reliably support a television without screwing all the anchors into a stud. I did use these to mount some laundry shelves without screwing some of the anchors into a stud and when the weight load on one of the shelves became excessive, they pulled out of the drywall and the shelves fell. I remounted the shelves by screwing the anchors into the studs.

A:  When you are going to mount a television you have to be in the wood studs of the wall. Drywall (sheet rock) will not support the weight of a TV.
