Q:Can the jaws hold small jewelry items (such as 10mm round stones, enameled silver) securely for drilling, without damaging the surface — are the jaws padded?

    Answer This Question

A:  It can reliably hold small items without damage. Since I haven't needed to drill something as small as you are asking about, I'm not sure. The plastic jaw covers are non-slip and removable, but I wouldn't say they are padded. I suggest that you Google Dremel's email address and then reach out to them to see if they have replacement jaw covers more geared to a jeweler's needs.

A:  The 2500 Multi-Vise would hold it, as long as the whole board does not get hot. The clamping jaws are rubber.
