A:  Yes, it will have no problem cutting that, though I prefer a circular saw myself as it is easier to cut straight and clean.

A:  Yes, this blade can be used for cutting 3” schedule 40. A faster solution would be our 14/18tpi blade (to check it out just search homedepot.com for Product #DS0914BF) which is also made for this application “medium metal”.

A:  Most are compatible. It also matters on the amount of teeth, and what your are cutting. Some brands I have used would brake upon usage, and others would bend, however using the Diablo Red, I found it was straight and usable after cutting a gauge of steel on a 50's automobile.

A:  Hi 1curiousguy, Thank you for your question. It is always best to check your power tool owner's manual to understand proper operation and accessories that are safe to use with it. Generally, reciprocating saw blades are designed to be universal. Hope this helps.

A:  Hi TimTaylor, Thank you for your question. This blade is not optimized for cutting wood, however in specific applications it will work, but it depends on the material. You should always wear safety gear and following the safety instructions in the owners manual of your tool. Hope this helps.

A:  Yes, I use this blade with my reciprocating saw to carve my Thanksgiving Turkey.

A:  No, I wouldn't think of using blades to cut food. However you probably can cut meat that was frozen solid. But I wouldn't go there.

A:  Food? I wouldn't unless you had no other choice.

Q:I am confused as the TPI is listed at 20 / 24. I'm sure it's some standard but I would like to know exactly what it means. Thanks, John

                    Answer This Question

A:  The 20/24 TPI is a variable tooth design. One inch will have 20 teeth, and the next inch will have 24 teeth. This is based on the 2+2 tooth design that has varying distances between each group of two teeth.

Q:what does having more or less "teeth" per inch do for the sharpness of a cut?

                      Answer This Question

A:  I found out the more teeth, the better cut, especially in cutting steel. The larger and lesser teeth, the more difficulty in the cut (jagged edges, rough in handling the tool).

A:  The higher the tooth count, in this case 20-24 tpi is our highest, the more teeth that will be engaged in the material that is being cut. The benefit of this is less vibration in thin gauge material, and a better quality of finish cut vs. a lower tpi blade. The teeth on our bi-metal blades are all ground to the same sharpness, only the amount of teeth per inch and the configuration is different.
