          Answer This Question

A:  It’s a metal bracket with rubber stops to prevent damage to the door. As a contractor we use these stops versus a spring attached to the wall. We use these all the time as they are adjustable and are mounted on the hinge pin.

A:  Easiest way: Replace the door with one that has a thicker (wider) frame or better wuality materials. Difficult way: I would cut a hole through it, insert a 2x4 wooden piece that matches the dimmensions of the hole, glue it/screw it/nail it and then recover it with the same material that was first removed. Then use wood filler, a little bit of sanding, maybe caulking and repaint.

A:  Spray a shot of expandable foam in hole. When it dries cut out extra and put wood putty over, sand and paint. Move door stop to another hinge.

A:  Buy a better door. But really; I had the same issue with this style doorstop. It’s a result of the low quality hollow doors that are used now. The easy answer is use a different type of doorstop if you can. If your door is situated such that a traditional baseboard stop can’t be used, you could try what I did: I had two doors that opened into each other in a small space and I mounted a baseboard stop to one of the doors at the bottom in the middle, so that door when opened hit the baseboard with the stopper, and the other door when opened hit the doorstop on the first door.
