Q:How do you measure for shutters.
by|Oct 9, 2021

Answer This Question
A: Measure the height of the window or window opening from top to bottom to get your height. The appearance of the stationary shutters covering just the window or the window opening is personal preference. Measure the width of the window from side to side to determine the width of the shutter. If your window is 30" wide you will want to order 15" shutters, etc. Please call us with any questions.

Q:I'm interested in replacing vinyl shutters with this product. Are there pre-drilled holes in the shutters for mounting them? Is there guidance regarding the size of the drill bit for use in prepping holes in the wall for mounting the shutters?

Answer This Question
A: Thank you for reaching out. These shutters do not have pre-drilled holes to allow for installation flexibility. The shutters do come with installation instructions and you will use a 1/4 drill bit to pre-drill the holes in the shutters. You can take your old shutters and set on top of the new shutters and drill if you want to use same holes. Please let us know if you have additional questions.

Answer This Question
A: Thank you for your inquiry. There are times on longer length shutters that there will be a seam. We choose each piece of Western Red Cedar for quality and it is possible there will be a seam. We try to make all pictures and marketing material to be representative of the finished product.

Q:Does this natural cedar weather well?
by|Aug 12, 2020
1 Answer
Answer This Question
A: Yes, Western Red Cedar is naturally rot resistant and performs well even without a finish. Western Red Cedar will turn a silver/grey color if left untreated, so if you prefer to keep the initial color you will need to apply a natural or semi-transparent stain prior to install. Look for stains with UV protection if you choose this route. Western Red Cedar is frequently used for decks, fences, pergolas and other large outdoor structures.
