A:  Hi Tenn, Thank you for your question. Delta Faucet model # T17T467-SS is designed with two handles that sit on top of each other. The larger handle in the back is to regulate the volume. The smaller handle on the top is to regulate the temperature. They are independent handles. Thanks. Jody
