A:  This item is made for 3/4" flooring. However, if you have an existing hardwood floor, it's much more difficult to install a flushmount register. Please refer to instructions before purchasing the item. The frame around the actual floor register would need to fit flush with your wood flooring, so your would need to make sure the opening in your wood floor is cut to accept this frame. The cut opening needs to be centered with the actual vent opening, so that the damper box will fit in the vent opening, when you place the register inside the frame.

A:  The damper box is nailed to the wood vent using brad nails. If you remove it, then want to re-attach it, you would need to use small brad nails or small screws. FYI - there is also an unfinished natural oak, which uses screws to attach the damper box, so you can remove the damper box to stain the wood, then re-attach, using the same screws.

A:  There are installation instructions in PDF format on the product page. The frame needs to be integrated into your wood floor, so there is cutting and sizing required.

A:  The outside dimensions of the frame are 13.5 in by 7.5 in. The outside dimensions of the register are 11.5 in by 5.5 in, and the register fits inside the frame. Please see instructional PDF on product page for installation. The level of skill required is at least advanced DIY.

A:  It's made in Canada.

A:  The thickness of the wood is 0.475 inches.

A:  This is made of American Red Oak. There is an unfinished version, which can be stained to match flooring more closely.
