Answer This Question

A:  ADC01 Everlasting is our Pure White. If you're looking for more of an eggshell soft white, then I would select ADC02 Lace. Carbon is our deep Black. -DecoArt Paint Guru

Q:Has anyone used the color Legacy? The jar looks more deep blue but the swatch is lighter with more green under tones. I?m looking for something to dry closer to navy blue. Thanks.

    Answer This Question

A:  The Legacy is more of a bright blue. If you are leaning more towards Navy, we would recommend the ADC41 Honor Chalky Finish. -DecoArt Paint Guru

Q:I want my wicker chair to look rustic gray. I plan on painting it the color primitive and use the dry brush. Will that color give me a gray result?

      Answer This Question

A:  The Primitive will deliver a gray-ish rustic look, but it leans to the Taupe side of gray. For a "truer" grey, you may also want to look at the ADC27 Yesteryear. Either one should look good using the dry brush technique. -DecoArt Paint Guru

Q:I am repainting a dresser and chest. Will I need to strip the old paint before applying this product?
          by|Oct 26, 2022
          1 Answer
          Answer This Question

A:  You would only need to strip it if you believe the initial paint is oil-based...because the Chalky Finish is water-based, it may not adhere as well to an oil-based paint. Otherwise, no prep needed. If the paint is peeling or a little rough, we would recommend that you do a light sanding on the surface first prior to painting. -DecoArt Paint Guru

Q:Will this paint cover brush marks
            by|Jul 4, 2022
            1 Answer
            Answer This Question

A:  It really depends on how deep the brush marks are and how many coats you apply. If you're concerned about painting over brush marks, we would recommend sanding the surface prior to painting with a fine-grit sandpaper to make the surface as smooth as possible. -DecoArt Paint Guru

Q:I am interested in repainting an old wooden bookcase and a wooden bench with this paint, but I don’t want it to end up having a “distressed” look to it. Will this product work so that the final result looks like a traditional fresh coat of paint?
              by|May 8, 2021
              1 Answer
              Answer This Question

A:  Yes, you can just apply the paint without distressing it (i.e. sanding or waxing the paint). However, it does deliver a flat matte finish. It can be buffed when dry with a soft cotton cloth (like a Tshirt) to provide a soft satin sheen, or you can apply a water-based varnish to achieve the sheen you're looking for. -DecoArt Paint Guru

                Answer This Question

A:  The Chalky Finish will dry hard on fabric. It will adhere to fabric just fine, but won't dry soft. Meant for decorative purposes only. -DecoArt Paint Guru
