A:  This product is slightly shorter.

A:  Only a slight sizing variance between the two.

A:  The backing is 8 1/4" x 2" x 8 1/4" deep

A:  1 3/4" x 6 7/16"

A:  Well as of 5-31-16 we have two answers that are saying the exact opposite of each other. So perhaps we can have someone to weigh in who knows for sure the CORRECT answer, hmm???

A:  It is a surface mount shelf, meaning that it is not recessed into the wall. It's not meant to be mounted on top of other tile; it's meant to be glued to the wall the tile is glued to with the same thin set that's used to adhere the tiles.

A:  It’s recess mounted and does not install on top of the existing tile.

A:  The mounts are recessed for mounting to wall, field tiles have to be removed and are 8" by 2" the shelf from back corner to the front of the shelf is about 8 1/2". The above photo does not accurately depict this shelf.

A:  The dimensions are as follows: Length (in.) 8.75 Thickness (in.) 8.75 in Width (in.) 2.625

A:  Yes, that’s how my contractor did it. He attached these to the hardeebacker and then tiled around them.
