A:  I used it to cut 1/4 rebarb and 3/8 all thread. I don't see why not. You will go thru a couple of blades for more than one bar rod.

A:  Hi Sissy, your choice is good for cutting up to 1/2" thick. Check out some brands that will cut cast iron.

A:  The carbide bimetal cutting blade works very well on iron rod.

A:  Hi, Sissy - You do not need the 14 pc reciprocating blade set to cut 1”x1” rod. The wood blades would not be recommended for this application. The metal cutting blades could be used at a lower speed and by using proper cutting technique, but they would not be ideal due to the 1” thickness of the wrought iron. The Diablo 6” Carbide Tipped reciprocating blade for Metal would be the best blade for this application. To check it out, just search homedepot.com for Product #DS0608CF. Blade life can be maximized by starting the cut at approximately 50% of max speed, once the kerf is created, speed up to 75%, minimize the vibration by keeping the shoe secured against the rod.

A:  I used these to cut through 3/8" bolts with NO problems! But I think 1" burglar rod is hardened steel. That might pose a problem for this blade, but i think it would cut it with maybe a blade change along the way.
