Answer This Question
A: Hello Maggie
Thank you for your contact. We apologize for any trouble or inconvenience in finding information. The BDCR20 uses bot T-shank and U-shank blades. The DEWALT blades would not be specific to DEWALT products in this case. There should be no issues in using the blades with the BLACK + DECKER saw.

A: Hello Alice
Thank you for your contact. We apologize for any trouble or inconvenience in finding information. These T-Shank blades were tested to work with DEWALT and BOSCH jigsaws and would be approved for those models. They were not tested by the manufacturer to work with the BLACK + DECKER jigsaw.

A: I bought the 3 in. 12 TPI Scrolling Wood Jig Saw HCS T-Shank blades to cut out animal shapes to make wooden banks. They do an excellent job, cut smooth and fast. This would be a good choice.

A: The DW3774-5 would be ideal for 24 gauge material.

A: From life experience, this does not sound like a good choice/method to cut your material. As a rule of thumb, a saw's tpi should allow 3 teeth or more to be equivalent to the thickness of the material being cut. Otherwise, the cut quality will be poor or if the material is hard-enough, the saw blade will be damaged, or both. 316 SS is a hard alloy. Even with a 32 tpi bi-metal blade this may be difficult, because of the assumed thin-ness of the straw wall. The cut will start ok, but as soon as the saw is about 1/4 way into the diameter or less, it will become a mess.
