Q:I need a new bathroom sink pop up stopper. The outside diameter of the chrome top is 1 1/4 inch.
Overall length 4 1/4 inches. Can you provide a replacement stock number?
I do not know the name of the sink. It is original to the house built in 1987.

A: Thank you for contacting Danco. The Universal Bathroom POP-up stopper, 80418, fits lavatory sinks with dimensions of 4-1/2 in. height and 1-3/8 in. OD(outside diameter top). Unfortunately, without knowing the specific make and model of your sink to get the dimension, we are unable to guarantee if it will work with your specific application.

A: Place a bucket or catch pan under the p trap to catch excess water. Look or feel for link rod attached to drain plumbing. Unscrew attached plastic wing nut with fingers.
Push wing nut and rod towards rear and pull popup up (observe which direction vertical shaft is facing) and out..
Reverse procedure to install.

A: For my vanity sink, there is a nut and rubber washer on horizontal rod (rounded portion to seal), which rod is connected to the down-linkage on the drain control. This control and rod are on the back (invisible) side of the drain pipe. This nut is a right-handed fine thread. Turn the nut (clockwise looking from the front of the vanity) until it is conpletely loose. Then carefully remove the horizontal rod, insert the drain stopper with the holed part to the rear of the vanity. Work the stopper until you can insert the horizontal rod back into the pipe and stopper. It is easier if the drain control is all the way up (drain closed), so you can merely drop the stopper in the sink drain hole. Once the rod is in the stopper, (check with the drain control rod), re-tighten the nut firmly. Check that the drain will stay closed. If not, tighten the nut more. It should be quite tight, as the rubber washer permits drain movement.
Hopefully yours is the same. Good luck!

A: You gotta go underneath the sink to reattach the stopper. I just drop in a new stopper from the top and leave it that way. I don't reattach the lift/lower stem. It works just fine that way.
