A:  Mix 1.47% imidacloprid concentrate with water and pour evenly around the base of the tree or shrub Insecticide absorbed through the roots and into the plant for protection that won't wash off. Mike

Q:I have small crepe myrtle trees with multiple trunks. How do I measure them?

      Answer This Question

A:  Directions say to measure the diameter of tree truck at chest height. If more than one trunk, measure the diameter of each trunk and add together. Multiply this total by 0.75 to get the required number of ounces to combine with one gallon of water. Pour around roots. Note: Do not apply more than 3.2 gallons of product per acre per year.

      by|Oct 10, 2022

A:  I would take the average circumference.

        by|Sep 29, 2022

A:  Two ways: (1) measure each trunk and use the total as oz. (3) measure the height in feet, and multiply by 3 oz. Either way should be effective. It is important to redo at the same time every year.

          by|Sep 29, 2022

A:  It's a little time consuming, but I measure each of the trunks about 3-4 feet up; add the measurements together. I use this drench every year for all my crapes...and I have a lot of them.

            by|Sep 29, 2022

A:  I'd do a collective total after measuring each individual trunk and deduce a "ballpark" figure from that. I don't know what'd happen if you over did it, but, as I always suggest, please call the manufacturer. Their phone number is on the back of the bottle and they are very friendly and cooperative. I've used this for a few years to control Lantern Flies and Gypsy Moths and it seems to work fine. Good product. I have no familiarity with your tree, but the Manufacturer will know. Okay? Trust them. They've always helped me.

A:  Wish I could help. I will say that I have been using for the last five years on my 5 mature Ash trees to control Emerald Ash Borers. Been very effective. Suggest you call the manufacturer and ask to speak to a technician (bypassing 'customer service'). I did that when I challenged the method of application.

A:  I don't know the chemical you asked about. I have 2 mature oak trees and drench them with this product in the spring annually. Afterwards the leaves are green and shine compared to other oak trees nearby. There is no insect on these trees. When the leaves fall they are void of any damage.

Q:After measuring the tree, and figuring the number of ounces, is that the ounces of concentrate, or of the mixture?

                      Answer This Question

A:  On a tree, after you've measured the circumference, just think..1 ounce of product per inch and match that with water. My oak tree was 128" around (so a gallon of drench with a gallon of water), since a gallon is 128 ounces. (1/2 gallon is 64 ounces x2=128). For me, the one gallon can was perfect for that one tree. Obviously, you can add more water depending on drought conditions to help the mixture get into the tree's system. I usually added an extra gallon of water at the same time after the first go around to ensure the mixture was absorbed. Just think an ounce of product and ounce of water per inch of tree. If you have any doubts, call the Company. They are very helpful if something is confusing in the instructions on the bottle. They assisted me with the proper mixture for shrubs and bushes so I wouldn't overdo it. Be sure that it's not too late in the year to dose your trees, etc. Otherwise, you'll be wasting it.

A:  There is no carbaryl in this product and since it is an active ingredient we would have to list it on the label if there was any in it.
