A: Must be bad string of lights or maybe wall plug bad, did you check the wall outlet with something else. We have plug over shelving for string lights and ours lit up when plugged in.

A: Make sure you have power from te outlet. Plug a radio in the outlet to make sure it is working. If you plug the lights in and they don't work take the set back and ask for a refund.

A: Make sure connection from plug tail to rope light is pushed in all the way and corrected tight. If it still doesn’t work check the fuse in the plug end should slide open to visually see the fuse

A: I’m confused. You “...just plugged it in...” and “...it doesn’t plug into a wall.” Those expressions are mutually exclusive.
If you have it plugged into an outlet that you can confirm is energized then the rope is defective.

A: it should work! I plugged mine into the wall & it came on with no problems. I even have three ropes attached to each other with no issues. check your plug to make sure its working properly. otherwise, maybe you got a bad rope light.

Answer This Question
A: Return it as defective. There's probably a short in the wiring, hence why the safety fuse keeps blowing.

Q:Can I pull off the end cap temporarily so that I can fit it through a tight space under my toe kick?

A: Never tried to do that with a set of these but they work great as above cabinet lights if the top of your wall cabinets are open and they last forever. No changing bulbs as with those expensive puck lights. As for the space at the kick plate, the cap is removable however the small socket for extending the set is there and is about a half an inch in diameter. You might also be able to drill or notch the kick plate to accommodate the diameter of the end socket as it will be at the floor level and probably not be visible. Bob

A: You can unscrew the end cap or the power cord, but don't pull anything apart.

A: No. Incandescent rope light cannot be cut.
by|May 5, 2023
A: Hello, unfortunately this product is not cut-able. However, Home Depot does carry smaller lengths, in 2' and 6' in most stores and online. These smaller lengths can be connected end to end without the purchase of any additional accessories.

Q:Does anyone know how many watts the 18' clear incandescent rope light uses? I'm guessing around 40w but I would like if someone has an exact number as I'm debating between the 12 and 24 feet as well but the electric bill makes a difference these days

A: The rope is divided into sections of about 30 inches so you will loose one of these sections if a light goes out. What I then do is put a loop in the rope and snug up the line. Adding another 2 ft or 18ft rope at the end when space become available.
