Q:I installed this unit about 3 years ago. Recently is has become intermittent - goes off for anywhere from a couple of seconds to hours. Sometimes (not always) it will restart if I flip the switch, but it will again go intermittent. Is there a solution other than replacing the whole unit?

Answer This Question

A:  I experienced the exact same issue on my light purchased approximately 2+ years ago. I replaced the unit to resolve the issue. I would have bought a different unit, but I have 6 other matching lights and didn't want to buy all new lighting at this time.

A:  As far as I know there are no replaceable or repairable parts to this fixture. Throw it away and get a new one...

by|Nov 29, 2019

A:  I also bought mine 4 years ago, and have not experienced any such issues. As far as I know, there are no replacement parts available. Be sure to check all connections for looseness first.

A:  I noticed the link to the instructions is bad, so I added the link for the instructions to the larger diameter light of the same design. Installation instructions are the same. https://images.homedepot-static.com/catalog/pdfImages/2f/2fdc2c1f-d42d-40e0-b254-7fa4474820ea.pdf

A:  Wiring: Black to black, white to white with wire nuts provided. Ground wire to ground wire. Screws provided will fit most ceiling boxes. Just remove light.globe, screw mounting screws into ceiling box, push mounting screw heads through holes in fixture (near LED light) and turn fixture to secure screws in slot. Then tighten screws and attach center post and globe. Instructions with light are simple to follow. This is a very easy project, you can do it.

A:  Just like a regular light fixture. It has a mounting bracket to physically attach to the light box, then 3 wires to connect to the house electrical system (white, black, green). You can't open the fixture or replaced any parts as it is all integrated but it hooks up like all the light fixtures that I have ever seen.

          by|Jul 5, 2019

A:  Turn power off then Disassemble the old light. Green wire will be ground black is hot white is neutral this light will assemble right over the old junction box using the same holes. Match all the wires up use wire nuts to wire them together assemble everything back up and turn the power back on

Q:I have this light in my bathroom next to the shower. It was filled with water this morning - is that normal?

            Answer This Question

A:  This is not normal and is either from water leaking into the enclosure or just condensation from the hot shower. I would suggest you inspect the fixture and determine its cause and correct or remove it from the bathroom. This unit is made for dry environments not wet areas and it can cause electrical shocks

            by|May 5, 2023

A:  No, Apparently you have a leak somewhere.

            by|May 5, 2023

A:  This light fixture was designed to last for years without having to change the bulb, however I don’t think it was the best choice for a bathroom because it doesn’t have any way for moisture that gets trapped to be released. I hope I helped you, good luck.

              by|May 5, 2023

A:  There should never be a case where a light fixture "fills with water" - unless it's in an old three stooges movie! I assume you mean the water is inside the globe? If that's the case you need to check for a water leak in the ceiling above the fixture. Now, water vapor will condense on cold glass just like a window on a cold day. If you have water forming on the outside surface of the globe you may need better ventilation in your bathroom to remove the water vapor coming from the shower.

              by|May 5, 2023

A:  Not normal at all. My guess is you either had too much steam from the shower, a lot more than you normally do, and that condensate it in the light fixture. Another possibility is you have a leak above the light fixture, but that is unlikely.

A:  The reason for this is bad design. The only thing you can do is complain to the store or manufacturer. Mine did the same thing.

A:  I had similar problem with flickering, it has a 5 year warranty, call them at Customer Service for Commercial Electric at 1-877-527-0313, 8AM-6PM, Mon - Fri and have a copy of your proof of purchase (aka receipt) and they will send you a new one. Takes about 3 weeks. They do honor the warranty, as I have received a new one.

A:  The power supply regulator, called an LED driver, has gone bad. LED’s are very susceptible to flickering and strobing and good quality drivers are essential for long, satisfactory operation. Cheap components are probably the problem. There is nothing you can do, that I know of, but replace it. I’ve had four of these fixtures for three years with one being used multiple times a day and I’ve not experienced any flickering with any of them. Hope this answers your question.

A:  I did have to firmly push up on one of the lights to get it to set. The others slid up into place with less effort. I twisted and pushed on all. I also had to replace one of the boxes in the ceiling because the original was old, brittle, and broke when I was too aggressive in getting the old fixture off. Live and learn.

                        by|Oct 13, 2019

A:  There is a threaded shaft that must be screwed into a bracket that must be affixed to the electrical box in the ceiling. The light fixture is then slid through, from the bottom of light fixture, then the screwed end will protrude the globe of fixture when you will be able to screw on the the nipple to secure the light fixture. However, you may need to adjust the length of threaded shaft to make sure it's not to long or short to properly affix the nipple to the globe.

A:  Yes, I had the same frustrating problem especially when I was on the ladder trying to get this thru. I had to disconnect everything get down the ladder and get my round file and filed down the inside of the fixture. What happened is from what I can tell, is that the tube inside the fixture, when they assembled it with the plastic white nut and tighten at the factory, it sort of squeezed inward right there, thus the Nipple EE could not slide thru. If you don't have a round file, some sandpaper wrapped around a pencil and file away at the inside of that plastic tube in the fixture. Or call them since the fixture has a 5 year warranty, 1-877-527-0313, Mon-Fri, 8AM-6PM EST. Make sure you also have your receipt in case they ask you. I just didn't want to wait and just file it down a bit.

A:  This is nothing like the fixture you have. Check with your nearest Home Depot store for a replacement that will match your current fixture. My suggestion is to buy this fixture and replace your old one. It is very energy efficient.

Make sure the wiring is correct and there is not a dimmer in the circuit.

A:  Amperage does not run through devices of this nature. It is the voltage that is important. Normal house current 110 - 117 volts. Amperage is unimportant as long asthe minimum amperage is available. In this case it would bd less than 1 amp.

                                                  by|May 4, 2023

A:  You are not understanding how amperage works. Amperage on a circuit (which is what I'm assuming you're talking about) is like saying "capacity". The circuit (lights, appliances, etc.) will only take how much power (in amps) it needs. This light takes a very tiny amount of amperage (much less than 1). It will work fine on a 30 amp circuit, but you won't be running 30 amps "through" it.

                                                  by|May 5, 2023

A:  This draws less than one amp. If this is on a 30 amp circuit, the circuit breaker is far too large to protect the lamp and circuit against a short. Put this on a standard 15 or 20 amp 120 volt circuit.

                                                  by|May 5, 2023

A:  You need to hire an electrician. It is 120 volts and will only use whatever amperage it needs - probably about one. 30 amps would run your electric clothes dryer.
