Q:¿Does it work for internet connections?

Answer This Question
A: Possibly, if your Internet connection is provided by a cable service. This type of wire is used between your modem and an outside connection. Otherwise, most of the connections between the modem, router and downstream computers and televisions is done with cat 5E cable.

A: I don't see why not. Use one of these to extend your existing cable and be sure to wrap up the connection in vinyl electrical tape or shrink-wrap: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Ideal-F-Series-Coaxial-Cable-Female-Adapters-2-Pack-85-071/204063261

A: Used miNE in wall works great
by|May 15, 2019
A: I don't see why not. It won't be exposed to weather or flexing. This is probably the same stuff that cable TV installers use. You will probably want a wall-mount outlet box to make the installation look really professional.

A: There is no reason to believe that either the connectors or the cable sheath are rated for outdoor use, especially if it involves exposure to moisture (connectors) or sun (sheath). You should consider this cable disposable for outdoor applications -- it WILL fail over time. I'm not sure if any F connectors or jacks were designed to be weather proof. Remember the center connector is bare copper, and copper corrodes.

Q:Is this the same coaxial cable thickness that most cable companies use to connect the TV box? I bought what I thought was a coaxial cable online but when i got it, it was thinner than the one that the cable company used, and there was no signal (unless the other outlet did not work). Anyway, it was also hard to get connected, the male connectors were bent inside. It just seemed cheap. I am looking for the thickness that cable companies use. Thanks,
Gina

A: I purchased this for my TV antenna and yes, it's the normal coax for cable TV. Look for type RG-6. There are other types, you probably got one of those.
by|May 5, 2023

A: Yes. It is a standard thickness for RG-6.
by|Feb 19, 2019
A: It is the same size wire inside but the overall thickness is less due to no shielding. I would not use this cable to hookup cable box. Being unshielded it could cause interference on certain channels (shadowing). Buy shielded cable

A: Yes, most cable systems use RG-6 because it is cheaper and plentiful. Some, though, use RG-6 QS (Quad-Shield) and it is a little thicker because of the extra shielding. But, the connectors are the same size at the end, so there should be no problem connecting to any normal F-type female connector, whether using RG-59, RG-6 or RG-6 QS. If you are extending an existing cable, use one of these: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Ideal-F-Series-Coaxial-Cable-Female-Adapters-2-Pack-85-071/204063261
