A:  No, this will not work if you adjusted to 12" and 12" on both sides.

A:  The minimum width is 24" wide, but can be cut to fit your 12" space using the proper cutting tool.

A:  Modifying the unit in anyway can void the warranty. You could buy the individual pieces you would need to install a shelf with hang rod for your space by buying the wire shelf, brackets, hang rod and hang rod supports.

A:  The brackets are at an angle and would not sit a shelf.

A:  The outside diameter of the rod is approximately 3/4 inch or about 19mm.

A:  We do not currently make this item in Nickel.

A:  ClosetMaid does not test for weight as much depends on the mounting structure.
