Q:I have a 27 year old model 4200 clopay 18x7-6 door and wanted to make sure the T on the weatherstrip is 5/16 and not 1/4 . Has Clopay's T's been the same for 27 years or did they change it at any time.

Q:Is there an upgraded bottom seal that is the same size as this one? I saw another post that confirmed this one would fit my 16 x 7 Clopay 4050 garage door. My concern is that my existing seal has been chewed by mice, rats, or chipmunks. Thanks.

A: Susie, unfortunately we don't offer a rodent proof bottom weatherseal. This would be the same as what came with the original door.

Q:What is the total gap height can this be cover! Is the 3 inch height on the posted dimension the height of the seal after installed or the overall length of the seal when its layed flat prior to install?

Answer This Question
A: Hi NWNW, the dimension is laid flat. Depending on the thickness of the door (1 3/8" or 2") this can seal up to about 1" of gradual floor contour. It will not settle into cracks or divots. Thanks for shopping the Home Depot, the Clopay team

Q:My replaced Clopay door (came with seal) lasted <2 years in Arizona heat before seal got rigidly flat and not flexing back when the door goes up. Clopay says this is the same part as what came with the door. How long is it lasting for you in high heat?

Q:how do I get the old bottom weather seal out?
by|Aug 19, 2023
1 Answer
Answer This Question
A: Hi dann, the easiest way to remove the old bottom seal is to remove the two security screws located on each end of the door in the grooves. The take a razor knife and cut the rubber right down the middle the length of the door. Then use vice grips of locking plyers to remove each side. After you remove it clean the grooves and spray WD-40 on the retainer then insert the new seal and reattached the screws. Thanks for shopping the Home Depot, the Clopay team

A: HDCustomer, what we can tell you is that our weatherseal has a "T" end on both sides. The top of the T measures .320" (5/16"). If that will fit in the track on your door then this will work.
