Q:What is the difference between this Model 48036 and the Model 100437? I have just bought a WGEN5300DFV. It will only be used for PGE outages. I want to run an extension from the L14-30R outlet on my generator into my garage. In the garage I'll have a refrigerator & microwave & coffee-maker that I want to connect to the outlets on the power cord. Then also from the garage, and one of the outlets on the power cord, I want to run a longer extension into the house for a few lamps and computer charging. Do I want the 48036 or the 100437?

Answer This Question

A:  The difference is that model 100437 is FLAT, so you can fit it more easily through a window or under a closed door. They are otherwise the same configuration on a heavy duty 10 gauge wire. Thank you for your interest!

Q:Since this is 25' long, and the generator is supposed to be 20' away from the house, is it ok to plug a heavy duty extension cord into one of the 4 plugs to be able to reach my refrigerator?

A:  The cord is designed exactly for that kind of use. Thats what I bought mine for. I haven't had to use mine yet. I would at least use a 14ga extension cord from there for the refrigerator and keep it to 6ft if at all possible.

A:  The generator does not have to be 20' away from house. It just needs to be in well ventilated area outside. The extension plugs can be used for anything that is plugable. Just do not plug a lot of big items in at the same time.

A:  The extension cord plugs into a 240V source and then splits it down to two 120V circuits. The colors represent each 120V circuit. The idea is to spread the largest 120V loads across opposite colors. Put your largest load on red or blue, the next largest on the other and continue in this fashion. This ensures you don't overload one of the two available circuits and will help you get the most. If a circuit breaker trips on the generator. Remove the loads, reset the breaker, then try again with less load on the respective color.

            A:  yes, and more

            by|Apr 13, 2021

A:  This would help you work around the GFCI outlets on your generator, yes. This cord takes 240V and splits it down to two 120V circuits that will be identified by separate colors. For example two red and two green outlets. Each color set would be able to supply 120V at 22.92A. This should be enough to power both the refrigerator and AC. Put these two loads on separate colors to split up your heaviest loads across the two 120V circuits.
